IPR 003: Interesting Teens!
Ileri Jaiyeoba & Maria Myers are Helping and Healing Women

Interesting Teens Are Shaping The Future Today!

What an incredible honor to bring IPR to We Are Family Foundation‘s Three Dot Dash Just Peace Summit, where I got to meet and interview so many Global Teen Leaders (GTLs) and their Mentors. Listen to this first episode of this series on Interesting Teens, and get to know the work of these Global Teen Leaders, Ileri Jaiyeoba, and Maria Myers.

Three Dot Dash Global Teen Leaders

Ileri Jaiyeoba, 17, Founder of CODE RED, focuses on women’s issues, menstrual care packages, and isn’t afraid to talk about self care and body fluids. Ileri is promoting a peaceful society by helping women unapologetically take ownership of their health. Get to know Ileri and her mentor, Pamela Bell, Founder of Prinkshop!

Maria Myers, 16, Founder of PRETTY PURPOSEFUL, is teaching the world about obstetric fistula, a maternal health issue that most people don’t even know about. Obstetric fistula is a tragic childbirth injury that exists in many parts of the world, leaving women injured and incontinent, often times leaving babies dead. Fistula, known as “the biggest problem you’ve never heard of,” is a stigmatized condition that can be avoided; one that leaves the lives of young women entirely ruined. I have to admit that prior to meeting Maria, I considered myself to be aware of all women’s issues around the world, but I had never even heard of fistula. Having now learned about this, I am incredibly heartbroken, but inspired to help spread the word. Get to know Maria and her mentor, Ilya Brotzky, CEO of VanHack!

And, as an added bonus, get to know Jess Teutonico, the Executive Director of We Are Family Foundations’s Three Dot Dash Global Teen Leader and Mentoring program. She’s awesome, of course.

Listen to this episode to reconnect to women and our issues, locally and around the world. Support these brilliant Global Teen Leaders! More episodes in the Teens Shaping The Future Today Series on IPR coming up…

Thank you, Three Dot Dash!

Keep nurturing our future leaders.
